RF Electromagnetic fields frequently degrade the performance of the electronic equipment in automobiles by generating common mode currents on cables. The effect of these E/H fields on the automobiles electronic equipment can be simulated very well by injecting common mode currents on to the cables of the equipment. GM 3100 defines one procedure and different test levels for
conducted immunity testing of wiring harnesses over the frequency range of 1 – 400 MHz per substitution method ISO 11452-4. Figure 1 shows a typical test set-up compliant with GM 3100 and ISO 11452-4.
